The high-powered fan completely inflates the 200-liter airbag in 3.5 seconds and pulses for several minutes thereafter to continue inflation in case your airbag is ripped or torn. But the engineers at BD wanted you to have more, so they made this base model compatible with Black Diamond's Booster Packs, letting you add extra volume to your backpack in case you want extra storage for a longer trip, which can then be easily removed for dawn patrols and quick day tours.
