No Levers Required
The Mammut Smart 2.0 Belay Device is the original brake-assisted belay device that doesn’t have mechanics and levers. Instead, it uses the natural forces of falling climbers to assist in braking the rope in the device. An integrated thumb catch lets you release the tension and lower like most assisted-braking belay devices. The Smart 2.0 works well with skinny 8.7mm climbing ropes as well as 10.5mm workhorse ropes, and a slim 2oz construction includes steel wherever the rope touches, plastic wherever your hand touchers, and aluminum everywhere else.
