Custom aluminum hinges are molded directly into the table for durability, so there's nothing to loosen or realign over time. The legs themselves are rugged aluminum with zinc pole tips that twist-lock into place, then tuck back into a storage channel on the underside of the table when you're done.

At the Campsite

Features are nice, but what matters is how they come together at camp.

Setting up the table using only the low legs felt like a good way to turn around and find that insects or rodents had gotten into food left out overnight. The low setting works great at the beach, where you just want to keep snacks out of the dirt, but around camp we're inclined to think the taller aluminum legs are more practical. Once the legs are installed, the table doubled as an ideal beverage holder while we set up camp and unrolled sleeping bags.

Then we pulled out the stove and set it on the table, only to realize it was about two sizes too small for a dual-burner setup. This is a rather small camping table, especially if you're planning on doing meal prep and cooking on the same surface. Firing up a Jetboil and making a dehydrated meal is a better use of this table as a cook space. Fortunately we usually have a tailgate to cook on in a pinch, but if you've only seen the spec sheet, the Moonlander's small in-person footprint might surprise you.

Once dinner was cooked, though, it made for the perfect camp side table for a hot meal, and as promised, the Moonlander sits at a comfortable height while seated in a camp chair.

What We Like

• Durable Top The tabletop shrugs off hot pots and pans, handles rough treatment if you forget a cutting board, and wipes clean in seconds.
• Slim Carry We're used to lightweight camp tables that practically need a seat of their own in the back of the car. One that packs down to the size of a laptop feels like cheating.

What Could Be Improved

• Twist-Lock Poles For all the strength this design offers, the aluminum poles can be tricky to get into place. Getting the legs out and locked in takes more doing than we initially expected.
• Limited Work Space The small packed size is great for anyone who wants a table they can take anywhere, but if you intend to use it as a full cooking station, its size leaves something to be desired. A dual-burner stove needs more surface area than this table offers.
• Premium Price This table is well designed, almost to the point of being overdesigned, and it's reflected in the price tag.
