Nothing says, "I made a mistake," like getting to the end of the trail and dumping out a shoe that's completely full of silt, dirt, and rocks. Next time, grab yourself a pair of gaiters and avoid the inevitable hot spots and blisters that you'll hear your friends complaining about. Plus, if nothing else, you'll look like you know what you're doing, even if you don't.
