Airbag systems have become a staple item for many backcountry touring enthusiasts, and the Dakine RAS Removable Airbag 3.0 gives you a proven way to get into this potentially life saving technology. It will work with any pack that’s compatible with the Mammut® RAS system, whether that pack is made by Dakine or another brand. Keep in mind that you’ll also need a RAS air cylinder to power the inflation of the airbag. The airbag itself is manufactured by Mammut, and has been tested to rigorous standards for your peace of mind. It’s not a substitute for your shovel, probe, and beacon, nor does it replace good judgement in avalanche terrain, but deployed properly, it adds flotation and visibility, potentially improving your odds of survival if you’re unfortunate enough to get caught in a slide.
